SMART AMERIHOME® TO REVOLUTIONIZE GULF COAST LIVING
Hurricane Resistant Home to Be Displayed at Plaquemines Parish Orange Festival
Smart Holdings, LLC of New Orleans and Houston has found a practical, energy efficient and economical solution to housing and emergency housing. Besides floating capacity, the house will generate carbon tax credits and help pay for itself. The house has ties to Plaquemines Parish and can be seen at the upcoming Orange Festival on December 5, 6, and 7th. When designed for emergency housing, the Smart Amerihome can withstand hurricane force winds up to 170mph and float with rising waters from storm surge. The units can be stacked up to 3 floors and are installed “plug & play” at the rate of 20 per day. With an R value of 24 and when incorporating Louisiana’s beneficial tax rebate for solar power, the unit is capable of returning up to 60% of the acquisition cost to the purchaser. Because the units last up to 100 years, they are fully recyclable. According to Smart Holdings, the manufacture of the unit in Louisiana and Texas will bring jobs, strong economic development and pride to the Gulf Coast.
